What to Expect at Your First Ballet Lesson

The main thing is to relax and have fun.

The first lesson is free of charge to see if you like the class. If parents want to sign up, lessons are block booked per half term. Bank transfer is preferable.

The aim is for the lesson to be ‘drop off’ with parents waiting nearby. Parents watch the final lesson of term.

The teacher is called ‘Miss Jenni’. She has been teaching ballet for twelve years.

If you don’t have ballet kit you can wear leggings and a top (and have bare feet) for your trial lesson. Leotards and tights can be purchased through out website.

Ballet shoes are best fitted in a shop. We don’t have a ballet shop in Basingstoke anymore but there is a lovely shop in Winchester.  Head to the Brooks Shopping Centre, park in Lower Parking, and you’ll see Ballet Pointé there. Essentially the shop is near Primark, but lower down. They are open Tuesday to Saturday but it might be an idea to call ahead 01962 866 000.

Lastly, bring a water bottle to class, and tie your hair in a ballet bun.
