We follow the Cecchetti (che-ke-tea) syllabus and students can do graded exams (with an outside examiner) if they wish. Our examining board is the ISTD and they offer a series of graded examinations accredited by Ofqual.
Exams are never compulsory and students can move up the grades (if they are ready) without taking the formal exams.
If choosing to go ahead with an exam entry, candidates usually require some extra lessons leading up to their exam.
We travel to London for exams, or we travel to another Cecchetti teacher (Woking, Reading, or Petersfield). An exam fee is about £70, billed in advance, and is non refundable.
Exam candidates are required to wear a specific uniform advised by the teacher.
Candidates are awarded with Pass, Merit or Distinction dependent on how well they do in the exam. Results are emailed to the teacher a couple of weeks after the exam. The paper certificates and reports take about 8 weeks.
